Imagination

This piece explores imagination.
Imagination is the alternate reality in which we find ourselves in, a fantasy that we create with our minds, the soul of creativity and innovation meld together. Imagination is an essential tool for any artist or designer. Our imagination improves as it grows and changes if nurtured properly. Imagination is the easiest way to change the world around you in the blink of an eye.

As an avid photoshoper, I like to create surreal artworks based off fantasy and imagination. In this photomanipulation, I found some old photographs from school and thought, well how can I improve upon these, what can I do with them?

I decided I wanted to once again combine nature with a man made object, another musical instrument, this time the drums (from the music room as I was a music and arts student). Looking at them through my eyes, I followed the way they all varied in size - reminding me of cliffs. My high school had been 5 minutes away from the beach (my favorite natural environment) and I lived in the country side, and would travel to school everyday by train. When I got there, I would find myself in a different environment, the beautiful beach side estate, and at a school where individuality and creativity was encouraged.

I wanted to dedicate an artwork to the beach, and to my high school, for the memories and atmosphere of freedom and creativity that inspired me and got me where I am today. This is my interpretation of the 'change your world' theme, as my world was changed through the concept behind it, for the better.
